In a bid to enhance local food production, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has announced plans for a new food manufacturing plant in Jeddah. The agreement, signed on Sunday in Riyadh, allocates a 117,000-square-meter plot in Jeddah’s Third Industrial City for the facility.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bandar Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, along with Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi, CEO of MODON, and other key officials.
The new facility will feature an automated production line equipped with modern technologies for packaging and filling, operated by skilled national personnel from the food industry. The project is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
The plant will include a central warehouse, industrial services buildings, an advanced laboratory, and an administrative office. In its first phase, the plant aims for a production capacity of 15,000 tons annually.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s effort to strengthen food security, meeting domestic demand while exporting to markets in the Middle East and North Africa.
Aligned with the National Industrial Strategy, MODON is fostering the development of food industry clusters in Jeddah’s Second and Third Industrial Cities. These clusters aim to bolster supply chains and boost exports, creating a supportive ecosystem for the sector.
