Michelin India has officially laid the foundation for a new tyre manufacturing facility in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of ₹563.67 crore. This expansion aims to increase production capacity for passenger car tyres at Michelin’s existing plant, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, TRB Rajaa, was present at the foundation stone-laying ceremony and emphasized the significance of Michelin’s reinvestment in the state. He noted that Michelin’s decision to expand reflects its confidence in Tamil Nadu’s business-friendly environment and the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The new facility will be developed with a focus on Industry 5.0 principles, incorporating advanced sustainability practices. It will leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and automation to optimize production and enhance efficiency. Minister Rajaa stated that the plant will rank among Michelin’s most advanced facilities globally.
This expansion will not only bolster Michelin’s footprint in India but also further establish Tamil Nadu as a key manufacturing hub.
