Metito Utilities, a global leader in sustainable water management, is making a significant comeback in China with a $150 million investment aimed at upgrading water infrastructure on Xizhong Island. The company is also establishing a regional headquarters in Dalian, marking a renewed commitment to the Chinese market after a six-year hiatus.
The investment plan includes $20 million for the new Dalian headquarters, while the bulk of the funds will support water infrastructure projects in Xizhong Island, a key industrial hub within the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone. The island is on track to achieve a refining capacity of 40 million tonnes per year by 2030, with ambitious goals for aromatics and ethylene production.
To meet the increasing demand for industrial water, Metito Utilities will introduce advanced desalination and water treatment solutions on Xizhong Island. These efforts aim to enhance water efficiency, lessen reliance on traditional sources, and align with China’s broader sustainability objectives.
Emphasizing the importance of this expansion, Metito Utilities CEO Rami Ghandour stated, “Returning to China is a strategic milestone for our global growth. Establishing a headquarters in Dalian reflects our long-term vision for the region, while our collaboration with Xizhong Island Petrochemical Park ensures a sustainable and reliable water supply for one of China’s most ambitious industrial zones. This project will set a new standard for desalination and industrial water treatment in the region, and we are eager to work closely with our partners in Dalian and Xizhong Island to drive long-term impact and innovation in water infrastructure.”
