Mars Incorporated, a global leader in food, snacking, and pet care, has announced a $450 million investment to open a new Royal Canin pet food manufacturing facility in Lewisburg, Ohio. The project will create up to 270 full-time jobs over the next five years.
Spanning 450,000 square feet, the plant will produce Royal Canin’s complete dry kibble portfolio, making it the brand’s largest dry pet food facility in the world. Once fully operational, the site will generate enough product annually to feed 4 million cats and dogs.
To ensure consistent quality, the facility has been built using standardized systems and processes adopted across other Royal Canin locations. It has also achieved Silver LEED certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and environmental performance.

Over the last five years, we’ve invested over $6 billion in the U.S., and we plan to continue growing our domestic supply capabilities. The Royal Canin facility in Lewisburg strengthens our science-based innovation while supporting a community of people and pets that’s long been part of the Mars family.”
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine added:
“The decision by Royal Canin and parent company Mars to locate in Ohio is a strong vote of confidence in our business environment, skilled workforce, and quality of life. We’re pleased to welcome them to Lewisburg and look forward to their success here in the heart of it all.”
