Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Karomidin Gadoev met with Zulkifli Jafar, Executive Director of Malaysia’s Pharmaniaga Berhad, to discuss potential cooperation in pharmaceutical production within Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Zulkifli Jafar highlighted that Pharmaniaga Berhad was among the first companies in Malaysia to manufacture halal-certified insulin for diabetes patients. The company supplies insulin to public health institutions through government procurement contracts and has implemented a nationwide system for free insulin distribution.
Pharmaniaga Berhad is collaborating with Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry to explore joint pharmaceutical production in the country. In the initial phase, the company plans to transfer key technologies from Malaysia to support insulin production, ensuring compliance with halal standards while utilizing Uzbekistan’s existing pharmaceutical infrastructure. Future stages will involve further investment to expand operations.
Established in 1994, Pharmaniaga Berhad operates four pharmaceutical manufacturing plants in Malaysia, three in Indonesia, and a research center. The company is also engaged in logistics, medical product supply, and pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
