President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan has extended an invitation to European investors to engage in the country’s major hydropower and transport projects. This call for investment came during his recent meeting with Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, as reported by the presidential press service.
President Japarov welcomed Borrell on August 3 during his official visit to Kyrgyzstan. Their discussions focused on trade and economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and collaborative projects in sectors such as energy, transport, water resources, and digitalization.
In the meeting, Japarov underscored the European Union’s longstanding role as a key partner in Kyrgyzstan’s sustainable development since its independence.
Borrell responded positively to Japarov’s recent visit to the EU headquarters in Brussels, highlighting the potential of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation signed during that visit. He emphasized the EU’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Kyrgyzstan and expressed readiness to support joint projects in areas of shared interest.
