KBR Secures PMC Contract to Oversee Angola Fertilizer Project Development

KBR announced today that it has been awarded a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract by AMUFERT to support the development of its $2 billion fertilizer plant in Soyo, Angola.

As part of this transformative project, KBR will oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases to ensure seamless execution. The facility, designed to produce 2,300 metric tons per day (MTPD) of ammonia and 4,000 MTPD of urea, will significantly boost agricultural productivity, create jobs, and position Angola as a leading fertilizer producer in Africa.

This PMC contract builds on KBR’s previous involvement in the project, which includes providing the technology license, proprietary engineering design, equipment, and catalyst solutions.

Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, stated:
“We are proud to provide PMC services for AMUFERT’s landmark project, which will enhance food security in Angola and neighboring countries. KBR’s expertise in end-to-end asset lifecycle solutions makes us the partner of choice for clients worldwide.”

A global leader in ammonia technology, KBR has been at the forefront of innovation in the sector for decades. Since 1943, the company has licensed, engineered, or constructed over 260 grassroot ammonia plants worldwide.
