KBR-AMCDE, a leading provider of engineering services for greenfield and brownfield projects, has been awarded a significant contract by Saudi Aramco to upgrade the Sulphur Recovery Units (SRUs) at the Haradh and Hawiyah gas plants.
The upgrade aims to boost sulphur recovery efficiency from 95% to 99.9% and cut SO₂ emissions from 4,300 ppmv to just 250 ppmv—aligning with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) regulations. The project supports Saudi Arabia’s net-zero ambitions by improving air quality and reducing environmental impact.
In a LinkedIn post, KBR-AMCDE emphasized that the initiative aligns with its core values of sustainability, innovation, and safety.
Operating in Saudi Arabia since 2011, KBR-AMCDE has a strong track record of delivering engineering solutions under Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with industry leaders such as Aramco, Sadara, Satorp, Samref, Sabic, and Yasref.
“Our integrated team, led by our Khobar office and supported by our Leatherhead office in the UK, will apply industry-leading expertise to deliver the project efficiently,” said a company spokesperson.
This initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in sustainable energy and highlights KBR’s commitment to environmental and operational excellence. By leading the project from its in-kingdom office, KBR-AMCDE continues to build local expertise while advancing national energy goals.
KBR-AMCDE specializes in front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, material procurement, and project management services (PMS), delivering high-quality engineering packages both in the kingdom and internationally.
