Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov held a working meeting with representatives of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to discuss key projects in the oil and gas sector. Officials from KazMunaiGas and QazaqGaz also participated in the discussions.

The discussions centered on strategically important initiatives, including the expansion of the Shymkent Oil Refinery to enhance Kazakhstan’s refining capacity. Other key topics included the Urea project, a major petrochemical development, and the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline to strengthen the country’s gas transportation network.
The parties also addressed contract extensions for MangistauMunaiGas and Urikhtau, as well as issues related to natural gas supply and transportation.
“These projects are of strategic importance for the continued development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry. We highly value our partnership with CNPC and are confident that through joint efforts, we will achieve our objectives,” said Vice Minister Akkenzhenov.

Both sides agreed to maintain close collaboration, conduct further technical consultations, and coordinate the next steps to advance these mutually beneficial projects.
CNPC has been active in Kazakhstan since 1997, engaging in upstream oil and gas investments, refining, pipeline construction and operation, petroleum product marketing, and engineering services. Key investment projects include Aktobe, RK, MMG, Kashagan, Northern Buzachi, ADM, and KAM.
The corporation is also a key partner in the construction and operation of major pipelines, including the Kazakhstan-China oil and gas pipelines, the southern route of the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline, and the northwest oil pipeline. CNPC further provides services in geophysical exploration, drilling, well testing, and engineering construction.
