UK-based engineering and consulting firm Wood has signed a series of contracts worth around $100 million to support Iraq oil sector decarbonisation. The deals are centered on reducing gas flaring and enhancing carbon efficiency across several of Iraq’s largest oil fields.
As part of the contracts, Wood will deliver brownfield engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services along with operational upgrades aimed at minimizing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency. The initiatives are directly aligned with Iraq’s national objective to cut gas flaring by 78% by the end of 2025.
The projects will be managed by Wood’s teams in Iraq and the UAE, with the company planning to hire around 60 new employees to support delivery. The contracts are structured on a reimbursable basis, ensuring flexibility and scalability based on ongoing project needs.
This major win highlights Wood’s growing footprint in the Middle East and reinforces its role in helping oil-producing nations transition toward cleaner, more sustainable operations.
