Iraq Begins Construction of Gas Pipeline for New LNG Terminal

Iraq has initiated the construction of a 40-kilometer pipeline to connect its planned offshore LNG terminal with onshore processing facilities in Basra, a senior official confirmed.

“There is a plan to establish an offshore LNG terminal to receive imported gas needed for Iraq’s power facilities,” said Muhannad Abdel Hadi, project manager at the Oil Ministry, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

He emphasized that the project would be fast-tracked to secure a stable and immediate gas supply for Iraq’s power plants.
