Iranian firms sign contracts to develop sewage systems in 7 provinces

The contracts, worth over $4.5 billion, were signed on Thursday in the presence of President Ebrahim Raisi.

Under the contracts, sewage systems will be developed in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, Qom, East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Markazi, Semnan, and Fars, with the aim of supplying industries with water and help stop using regular water by them.

The projects will provide large and small industries with 47 million cubic meters of waste water from sewage treatment plants per year.

President Raisi on Thursday emphasized that water supply and management is of great importance, especially when it comes to industries across the country.

He said that his administration has been working on plans to manage water consumption for household as well as industrial and agricultural use amid shortage of supplies and a drop in precipitation in the past years.
