Inpasa Brasil has announced a major expansion of its grain biorefinery in Balsas, Maranhão, with a planned investment of approximately R$2.5 billion. The project, unveiled by state governor Carlos Brandão (PSB), aims to double the facility’s current daily corn processing capacity—now at nearly 3,000 tons—for the production of ethanol and corn oil.
According to a statement from the Maranhão government, the expansion will take place in two phases. The first phase, involving an investment of around R$1 billion, is slated for completion next month. The second phase is expected to be finalized by December.
The initiative is expected to generate approximately 4,500 direct and indirect jobs in the region, supporting local employment and economic development.
“We are going to double the factory so that we have more jobs, more income, and increased corn processing,” Governor Brandão stated.
