The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced nearly 300 hydroelectric improvement projects nationwide will receive up to $430 million in incentive payments. Among these, four projects in Indiana are set to share nearly $19 million in funding.
This initiative is part of the “Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity Incentives” program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The program is designed to boost dam safety, enhance grid resilience at 215 hydropower facilities, and support around 6,000 jobs within the industry, including contractors and vendors.
“Hydropower, as our first form of renewable energy, has powered America for nearly 150 years. The Biden-Harris Administration is ensuring these facilities continue generating clean energy,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. “This funding will help modernize and expand our hydropower infrastructure while safeguarding thousands of American jobs.”
