ILF Consulting Engineers has been awarded the Abu Dhabi Water Transmission System Masterplan Development Project, a strategic initiative aimed at safeguarding the emirate’s potable water supply through to 2050.
The project will deliver a comprehensive review of Abu Dhabi’s existing water transmission network, assessing its ability to meet long-term demand driven by population growth, urban development, and climate challenges. Based on this assessment, the master plan will define the infrastructure upgrades and enhancements required to ensure a reliable, resilient, and continuous water supply over the coming decades.
The scope of work is structured across two key stages. Stage One will focus on detailed data collection and technical evaluation of the current transmission system, including performance, capacity, and operational constraints. Stage Two will involve the development of a long-term master plan, providing a roadmap for future investments, network optimisation, and system resilience.
ILF’s appointment reflects its strong track record in large-scale water master planning across the Middle East. The company brings extensive knowledge of TAQA’s transmission network, along with advanced capabilities in hydraulic modelling, financial analysis, and infrastructure planning.
Through its ongoing collaboration with TAQA Transmission and TAQA Distribution, ILF is well positioned to support the successful delivery of the master plan, combining local insight with international expertise.
ILF Consulting Engineers stated that the project aligns with its commitment to delivering sustainable, future-ready water infrastructure solutions, enhancing efficiency, resilience, and long-term water security for Abu Dhabi.
