Kuwait’s Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Co. (HEISCO) has secured a contract from Egyptian EPC firm Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (Enppi) for civil and mechanical engineering services at Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq oilfield in the Eastern Province, the company announced.

Enppi, headquartered in Cairo, is the main contractor for a project aimed at de-bottlenecking the existing production facilities at the Abqaiq oilfield. In a disclosure to Boursa Kuwait, HEISCO confirmed its role in delivering a civil and mechanical engineering package valued at $69.5 million.

The project is set to be completed within 865 days, as per HEISCO’s announcement.

Abqaiq, Aramco’s largest oil processing facility, serves as the primary processing hub for Arabian Extra Light and Arabian Light crude oils. In recent years, Aramco has implemented Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including automation systems and robotics, to modernize the aging infrastructure.
