The state-owned company Aguas de las Cuencas Mediterráneas (ACUAMED) has awarded GS Inima the contract for the operation and maintenance of the Valdelentisco desalination plant in Isla Plana, Cartagena, Murcia. The contract is for one year, with the possibility of extensions up to an additional year, and is valued at 3.1 million euros annually.
The Valdelentisco desalination plant, with a maximum production capacity of 126,000 cubic meters per day, is a crucial infrastructure for both human consumption and irrigation. The portion of the production intended for public supply is distributed through the pipeline network of the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla (MCT), while the water designated for agricultural, industrial, and livestock uses is managed through ACUAMED’s own distribution network.
The contract encompasses the operation and maintenance of the treatment plant itself, including the electrical connection, pumping tank, and both land and sea sections of the intake and discharge pipes. Additionally, it includes the storage and pumping of water to ACUAMED’s irrigation water distribution network.
This contract strengthens GS Inima’s position in the operation and maintenance of desalination plants in Spain.
