Golar to Approve Fourth FLNG Unit Pending Charter for Third Vessel

Tor Olav Trøim’s Golar LNG, a company focused on floating LNG (FLNG) solutions, is advancing plans for a fourth LNG carrier-to-FLNG conversion project. The company intends to proceed with this new unit once it secures a long-term charter for its under-construction MKII FLNG vessel.

In its fourth-quarter results statement, Golar confirmed that securing a charter for the MKII currently under construction is a key milestone before making a final investment decision (FID) on the fourth FLNG unit. Alongside the option to build a second MKII at CIMC Raffles shipyard, Golar is also in discussions with other capable shipyards for this potential fourth unit. These discussions focus on optimizing the design, enhancing liquefaction capacity, managing capital expenditure per ton, and ensuring competitive delivery timelines.

With a growing global demand for flexible LNG infrastructure, Golar continues to strengthen its position as a leading player in the FLNG sector, leveraging its expertise in cost-effective conversions and innovative floating liquefaction technology.
