Germany orders six more oil carriers to be built in China

German Tanker Shipping has expanded its order book for product carriers in China to six vessels. The Bremen-based company exercised options for two additional 41,000 dwt units at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry, as construction began on a series of four tankers ordered late last year at an undisclosed price.

Founded in 1998, GTS manages a fleet of 14 oil product tankers, all built in Germany. Nine of these vessels sail under the German flag, while the remaining five are registered under the Seychelles flag.

The new 199-meter-long ships, designed by Swedish Fartygskonstruktioner, will be built at Xiamen Shipbuilding, with deliveries starting from mid-2025 onward.
