Gas Processing Plant Contract Awarded at Kazakhstan’s Largest Oilfield

Kazakhstan has awarded a multibillion-dollar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a new gas processing plant at the country’s largest oilfield to an Italian-led consortium.

The planned Gas Separation Complex (GSC) will process gas produced at the Chevron-operated Tengiz oilfield, extracting ethane for conversion into polyethylene as part of Kazakhstan’s broader strategy to monetise increasing volumes of associated gas from its major hydrocarbon fields.

The facility will also extract propane from the gas stream and will be located approximately one kilometre from the existing oil and gas processing infrastructure at Tengiz.
