GAIL to Study Greenfield Gas-Based Fertiliser Project

GAIL (India) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Chhattisgarh to explore the development of a greenfield gas-based fertiliser project in the state.

Under the MoU, GAIL will carry out detailed techno-economic studies for setting up a urea manufacturing plant with a proposed capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes (LMT). The project is planned to be strategically located along GAIL’s Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda natural gas pipeline (MNJPL) corridor.

Based on the outcome of the techno-economic evaluation, GAIL will take a final investment decision on the development of the fertiliser project.
