Fluence secures SWRO project on the Island of Mayotte

Fluence has secured a $7.1 million contract to deliver a 10,000 m³/day Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) system for Stereau on Mayotte, a French archipelago in the Indian Ocean. Work on the project is set to begin immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

This SWRO system will be part of the Grande-Terre desalination plant at Ironi Bé, and is in line with the French Public Procurement Code. Stereau, an engineering subsidiary of the Saur Group, is the main contractor for this project and is known for its global involvement in SWRO projects.

Due to Mayotte’s remote location, the SWRO system will be skid-mounted to minimize construction and commissioning time. It will feature feed pumps, cartridge filtration with a dosing system, reverse osmosis units, and clean-in-place skids to ensure that the desalinated water meets French quality standards for the island’s growing needs.

Steven Scheidler, General Manager of Fluence’s Municipal Water & Wastewater Group, noted: “This significant contract highlights our successful One Fluence approach, where our teams in the US and the Middle East collaborate closely with Stereau to meet technical challenges. We are eager to showcase our expertise and deliver high value on this important project.”

Fluence CEO and Managing Director Tom Pokorsky added: “This win demonstrates the effectiveness of our newly reorganized Municipal Group, showing our vision in action. Alongside this contract, we have recently secured a $1.5 million deal for our Industrial Wastewater & Biogas group and several other contracts. With nearly $12 million in new orders for the third quarter, we are poised to finish the quarter and fiscal year strong.”
