Engineers India Limited (EIL) has commenced site activities for its Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant at the MIDC Halkarni Industrial Area in Kolhapur district, marking a significant milestone in India’s transition towards sustainable and renewable energy solutions. The project underscores EIL’s growing role in advancing clean energy infrastructure and supporting the country’s circular economy objectives.
The foundation stone ceremony was presided over by Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and witnessed the presence of Ms. Vartika Shukla, Chairperson & Managing Director of EIL, along with members of EIL’s Board and senior officials. The event highlighted the government’s strong commitment to promoting alternative fuels and reducing dependence on fossil energy sources.
Once operational, the CBG plant is expected to convert organic waste into clean, renewable biogas, contributing to waste-to-energy development, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and enhanced energy security. The project aligns with national initiatives such as SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) and reinforces India’s broader goals of decarbonisation, rural development, and sustainable industrial growth.
