The Egyptian government has announced its National Strategy for Low-Carbon Hydrogen, aimed at reducing carbon emissions and diversifying the country’s clean and sustainable energy sources. This strategic move is in line with Egypt’s international commitments, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The strategy is expected to significantly boost Egypt’s economic growth, with projections estimating an increase in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) of up to $18 billion by 2040. Additionally, it is anticipated to create over 100,000 job opportunities within the current year.
Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homosany highlighted that the strategy will also strengthen collaboration with international partners and financial institutions to support research, development, and investment in low-carbon hydrogen technologies.
El-Homosany further noted that the strategy aims to enhance economic efficiency by optimizing the use of domestic resources. The National Green Hydrogen Council will oversee the annual progress of the strategy’s implementation.
The strategy is also expected to double Egypt’s energy security, contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and support the country’s transition to a green economy.
