A consortium of nine Egyptian companies is set to establish a phosphoric acid production facility in the Abu Tartur region, with a total investment of $1.2 billion. The government official revealed this news to Al Arabiya Business.
The consortium is currently exploring two funding options:
- Financing and Self-Funding: Securing approximately 65% of the project’s investment from external financing sources and self-funding the remaining 35%.
- Strategic Partnership: Bringing in a new local or foreign investor as a partner with a specific equity stake in exchange for financial contribution.
The project is anticipated to be completed within three years, with an annual production capacity of up to 900,000 tons of phosphoric acid at a concentration of 54%.
Abu Tartur For Phosphoric Acid (AT-PHOS) will oversee the project’s operations on behalf of its shareholders, with Misr Phosphate Company holding a significant stake of nearly 24%.
The consortium includes prominent Egyptian companies such as Engineering for Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (PETROJET), Chemical Industries Holding Company, Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company, Misr Phosphate Company, East Gas Company, and others.
