The Egyptian government is in negotiations with a prominent Indian carbon black manufacturer to set up a $60 million production plant in Egypt, according to recent updates from the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS). The ECS shared details of these discussions through LinkedIn and Facebook posts.
Minister Plenipotentiary Yahya Elwathik Bellah A. Nabih, who leads the ECS, recently engaged in a series of meetings with senior executives from various Indian companies during the India-Africa Business Conference held in New Delhi. Among the key discussions was the potential establishment of a carbon black manufacturing facility in Egypt. Although the specific Indian company involved has not been disclosed, it was noted that a delegation will soon visit Egypt to assess potential sites for the new plant.
India’s Birla Carbon, recognized as the world’s largest carbon black producer, already operates a manufacturing facility in Alexandria, Egypt, as per its website.
In addition to the carbon black discussions, the Minister also conducted high-level talks with other major Indian firms, including Welspun, a leader in home textiles; Hinduja Group, noted for its bus and light transport manufacturing; and Ocior, which is progressing with a $4.2 billion green hydrogen project in Egypt.
