EDF Saudi Arabia and TAQA Geothermal Energy Company have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance geothermal energy solutions in Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration will focus on power generation, HVAC applications, and Compressed Air Energy Storage, supporting the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
The agreement was formalized at the third edition of the PIF Private Sector Forum, held at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. Signing the MoU were Omar Aldaweesh, CEO of EDF Saudi Arabia, and Meshary Al-Ayed, CEO of TAQA Geothermal Energy Company, underscoring their joint commitment to fostering innovative and sustainable energy technologies in the Kingdom. Also present at the signing was Gudmundur Thoroddsson, Chief Technology Officer of TAQA Geothermal and Chairman of Reykjavik Geothermal, a key joint venture partner.
Speaking on the collaboration, Omar Aldaweesh emphasized EDF’s dedication to Saudi Arabia’s evolving energy sector:
