DTE Energy seeks developers for new renewable projects

DTE Energy (DTE.N), opens new tab said on Friday that the utility is seeking proposals for renewable energy projects totaling about 1,075 megawatts (MW) to advance its decarbonization efforts.

“DTE is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for new wind and solar projects and about 1,075 MW of projects are being requested to achieve commercial operation by March 31, 2027,” the company said in a press release.

“Bids are due May 14, 2024, and the company anticipates executing contracts this fall.”

The operator also said the projects must be located in Michigan and interconnected with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution-level transmission.
The company plans to add 1,000 megawatts of new wind and solar power each year starting in 2026.

The utility also plans to retire its coal plants in less than a decade and invest $11 billion over the next 10 years toward clean energy transition.

The Detroit-based energy company’s operating units include an electric company serving 2.3 million customers in Southeast Michigan and a natural gas company serving 1.3 million customers across Michigan.
