Douglas OHI Commences Construction on Oman’s Largest Desalination Plant Infrastructure

Douglas OHI, a leading construction and engineering firm in Oman, has started building temporary office facilities and essential utility infrastructure for the Ghubrah 3 Desalination Plant, reports Zawya. This initiative marks the first phase of preparations for what will be the largest desalination plant in Oman.

In a statement, Douglas OHI highlighted the groundbreaking as a significant milestone, underscoring its commitment to delivering sustainable and high-quality infrastructure solutions. The Ghubrah 3 Desalination Plant, designed and constructed by the Spanish group GS Inima, will provide a vital water source for 2.5 million residents in Muscat.

The plant will have a standard capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day, with the potential to increase to 315,000 cubic meters during peak demand periods.

Aaron Hennessy, Group Managing Director of Douglas OHI, emphasized the company’s extensive experience in the power and water sectors. He praised the collaboration with GS Inima, the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, and expressed confidence in maintaining high standards throughout the project. “Our team is fully committed to ensuring the successful execution of this project,” Hennessy stated.

Michael Hall, General Manager of Douglas OHI, echoed these sentiments, noting the project’s alignment with the company’s core expertise. “This endeavour epitomizes the essence of Douglas OHI’s work,” he said.
