DataVolt, a Saudi Arabian company, will invest $5 billion in a 1.5GW net-zero data center in Neom, Saudi Arabia. Located in Neom’s Oxagon district, the project is envisioned as an “AI factory campus” and will utilize seawater cooling to achieve its net-zero operational goal.
“This project marks a milestone in advancing the kingdom’s leadership as a digital powerhouse in the region,” said Rajit Nanda, DataVolt’s chief executive.
Vishal Wanchoo, Octagon’s chief executive, added, “We are accelerating a renewable energy industrial ecosystem that is set to power businesses with green energy and technology solutions. The agreement with DataVolt highlights the potential impact of the sustainable infrastructure Oxagon offers its tenants and sets the foundations for the first green AI workload.”
The data center is expected to be operational by 2028.
