Greece’s Nereus Shipping, a subsidiary of CM Lemos, has expanded its orderbook with the addition of three new suezmax tankers. The Piraeus-based company announced that these newbuilds, each with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 158,600, are scheduled to join its fleet in 2027.
The ships will be constructed at Japan Marine United (JMU), marking Nereus Shipping’s return to the Japanese shipbuilder after nearly eight years. The company previously ordered four suezmaxes from JMU, including the 2019-built Homeric.
Nereus currently operates a fleet of 14 vessels, 11 of which are tankers. In July 2022, the company placed an order for its first LR2 tankers, which are expected to be delivered from Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding in 2025
