The UK-based Breedon Group has unveiled plans for a significant solar project at its Kinnegad cement plant in County Westmeath, Ireland. The project, set to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, will deliver 14 MWe from a 17.5-hectare solar site. Grange Solar, a leading provider of solar installation services, is partnering on this initiative.
The solar facility aims to make the Kinnegad cement plant self-sufficient in energy during peak solar periods. This project aligns with Breedon’s 2030 sustainability goal to reduce carbon intensity per tonne of cementitious material by 30%.
