AIM-listed Botswana Diamonds has applied for 11 prospecting licenses in Botswana, targeting a diverse range of critical minerals, including copper, silver, cobalt, gold, nickel, zinc, and platinum group metals.
This strategic move follows the company’s AI-driven exploration program, which initially focused on diamonds but has since uncovered significant polymetallic deposits across the country.
The nationwide AI exploration initiative began with a primary emphasis on diamond exploration. However, advanced data analysis revealed the potential for previously undiscovered polymetallic targets, prompting the company to expand its focus.
“Our analysis has identified a series of highly prospective targets for copper, cobalt, zinc, and gold,” said Chairperson John Teeling. “As a result, we have applied for 11 prospecting licenses, and I am pleased to report that our applications have been accepted.”
With these new licenses, Botswana Diamonds aims to broaden its exploration portfolio, utilizing cutting-edge AI technology to unlock untapped mineral resources in one of Africa’s most resource-rich regions. This expansion aligns with the global push for critical minerals essential to clean energy, electric vehicles, and modern technology.
