BKV Corporation and Comstock Resources have entered into a strategic collaboration to develop carbon capture initiatives at two natural gas processing sites in Texas.
As part of a non-binding agreement, BKV will take the lead in designing and executing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects at Comstock’s Bethel and Marquez plants, located in the Western Haynesville region. The plan includes capturing CO₂ emissions from these facilities and injecting them into dedicated underground wells for long-term storage. Detailed terms of the partnership are still under negotiation.
This alliance combines BKV’s expertise in carbon capture with Comstock’s strong presence in the Haynesville Shale, a key natural gas-producing area that serves Gulf Coast markets and the expanding LNG industry.
“This collaboration with Comstock is a great opportunity to demonstrate how our CCUS capabilities can help other natural gas producers transition to low-carbon operations,” said BKV CEO Chris Kalnin. “We see carbon capture as a crucial part of the energy transition.”
Comstock CEO M. Jay Allison echoed the sentiment, stating, “Partnering with BKV enhances our infrastructure and allows us to scale low-carbon energy solutions. Their leadership in this space aligns perfectly with our long-term goals.”
Both companies see the project as a meaningful step in advancing sustainable natural gas production and meeting the rising demand for cleaner energy.
