BHEL wins order for 2×800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power plant

Under International Competitive Bidding (ICB), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order from NTPC Ltd. for setting up the 2×800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis.

The plant will be set up adjacent to the existing 2,000 MW thermal power station at Singrauli in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. Notably, set up by BHEL in 1982, Singrauli TPS was NTPC’s first power plant in Uttar Pradesh. The machines installed earlier by BHEL at Singrauli have been performing exceedingly well since commissioning.

Key equipment for the project will be supplied by BHEL’s manufacturing units at Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bhopal.

BHEL is playing a crucial role in bolstering the nation’s energy security with its state-of-the-art technological solutions. With its vast portfolio of 1,34,000+ MW of thermal power plants installed in the country (~57%), BHEL is the market leader in thermal utility projects as well as a leading player for Renovation & Modernisation (R&M) of old sets for increasing the lifespan and for upgrading efficiency and reliability.

So far, BHEL has contracted 68 nos. Supercritical Steam Generators (SGs) and 63 nos. Supercritical Turbine Generators (TGs) in the country, of which, 34 SGs and 25 TGs have been commissioned and are operating successfully.
