Algeria steel project development has taken a major step forward with the country’s Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) awarding a $500 million deal to Chinese firm Jingdong Steel. The agreement includes a 36-hectare land concession in the Dhraâ El-Hadja industrial zone, located in M’sila province in northern Algeria.
This high-impact project will deliver a modern steel production facility with an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes. The output will include 200,000 tonnes of steel plates and 300,000 tonnes of steel pipes, supporting a wide range of industries such as construction, energy, and water infrastructure.
To be executed in two phases, Phase 1 will establish the plate production line, while Phase 2 will focus on installing advanced equipment for pipe manufacturing. AAPI emphasized that this investment positions Algeria as a growing hub for steel and pipe manufacturing in North Africa, boosting local industry and job creation.
