Algeria is advancing with the construction of a major seawater desalination plant aimed at providing drinking water to vast areas in the northern region, according to a report on Wednesday. The facility, located in the Oran province, has a production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day (m³/day). It also includes the development of 50 kilometers of canals to transport water to various parts of the province, as reported by Elkhabar.

Oran’s governor, Al-Saeed Saoud, confirmed that the project is progressing on schedule, with civil engineering works nearing completion. “We can confirm that this strategic project has entered its final phase and will benefit a large number of areas,” Saoud stated.
