Air Liquide Invests €70M in New UHP Gases Plant in Singapore

Industrial gas giant Air Liquide will invest €70 million ($79.8 million) to construct a new air separation unit in Singapore. The facility will supply ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, and argon to VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC)—a joint venture between Taiwan’s Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors.

The plant will be located in the Tampines Wafer Fab Park, one of Singapore’s four key semiconductor manufacturing hubs. Air Liquide noted that this investment reflects its commitment to expanding infrastructure in response to growing global chip demand. The semiconductor industry accounts for over 20% of Singapore’s manufacturing output.

Ronnie Chalmer, Vice President for Asia Pacific at Air Liquide, stated the company is proud to support VSMC, noting the project aligns with its 2022 ADVANCE strategic plan. The plan focuses on strengthening Air Liquide’s presence in key electronics markets across Asia, the U.S., and Europe to support the semiconductor sector’s evolving needs.
