The Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah) has signed an agreement with Tialoc and Al Ramooz National to commence the second phase of the industrial waste treatment facility in the Sohar Free Zone.
The agreement was signed by Engineer Abdul Kareem Qasim Al Balushi, Chief Operating Officer of Hazardous Waste Operations at be’ah, and Christoph Engel, CEO of Tialoc Group. This partnership is part of be’ah’s broader initiative to enhance the industrial waste management infrastructure across Oman.
The second phase of the project will focus on developing an integrated facility for industrial waste treatment. This includes advanced capabilities for hazardous waste treatment, physical and chemical processing, and the treatment of used oils and toxic waste. The facility will also feature storage tanks and cutting-edge infrastructure to support its operations. This expansion is expected to contribute significantly to Oman’s national sustainability goals and stimulate the local economy by creating new employment opportunities.
Engineer Abdul Kareem Al Balushi emphasized the project’s importance in advancing Oman’s industrial waste management capabilities, describing it as a crucial step in the country’s strategy to address industrial waste challenges and implement sustainable, integrated solutions.
Christoph Engel, CEO of Tialoc Group, expressed his gratitude to be’ah for their trust in Tialoc’s technology. He highlighted the company’s commitment to deploying advanced European technology and best practices to meet the specific needs of the Sohar Zone. Engel noted that the project aims to set a new benchmark for integrated industrial waste treatment in the GCC region by combining cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly practices. The initiative is designed to minimize pollution, reduce emissions, lower carbon footprints, and significantly contribute to the Sustainable Environment Goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
The first phase of the Sohar industrial waste treatment facility has been operational for several years, featuring specialized industrial facilities, a solid waste storage facility, and a laboratory accredited by the Gulf Accreditation Center. It remains the only facility of its kind in Oman, providing crucial support for the country’s waste management efforts.
