Afghanistan’s AUA Announces Plans for Cement Plant

Alfalah ul Alami (AUA) is constructing a cement plant in the Jabal Al-Sarraj district of Parwan province, Afghanistan. AUA, a mining and construction materials production company, recently became an associate corporate member of the World Cement Association.

This project dates back to the end of 2023, when the Taliban-led Government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan decided to build and upgrade three cement plants. At that time, the country produced only 900 to 1,100 tons per day (tpd) of cement, which is about one-tenth of the local demand.

This development represents a historic investment of $220 million and includes two new production lines with a combined capacity of 6,000 tpd and a captive power plant. The original timeline for making the plant operational is two years.
