ACWA Power Partners with Malaysian Firm to Advance Power and Water Projects

ACWA Power has partnered with Malaysian firm UEM LESTRA to conduct a feasibility study on developing independent water and power plant (IWPP) projects in Malaysia.

The study, expected to take six to 12 months, will evaluate various power solutions for the IWPP facilities, including combined cycle gas turbine technology, large-scale ground-mounted or floating solar farms with battery storage, or a hybrid of both, according to LinkedIn posts by both companies.

Additionally, the study will assess the viability of seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants with production capacities ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 cubic meters per day (m³/day), primarily intended for industrial use.

This initiative follows ACWA Power’s announcement last year of its plans to invest $10 billion in renewable energy projects in Malaysia over the next decade.
