According to reports from local media including Yle, FCDC Corp is planning to develop a 500MW Data Center planned for the facility in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland. The proposed site, located approximately 10 kilometers outside the city, could span up to 180,000 square meters (1.93 million square feet). While detailed plans remain limited, construction is expected to begin in 2027, with operations commencing by 2029.

According to an announcement from the City of Rovaniemi confirmed that the targeted location is in Hietavaara, situated along the eastern bank of the Kemijoki River near the Valajaskoski hydropower plant. The city council recently approved the acquisition of the land, which will be leased to FCDC for the project.
FCDC’s director of land acquisition and development, Jaakko Leinonen, told Yle the company is actively developing eight data center projects across Finland, including in Mikkeli, Kerava, and Lahti.
In Mäntsälä, FCDC is collaborating with data center firm Verne, which announced plans for a 70MW facility in the municipality late last year. Verne confirmed to Yle it is partnering with FCDC on the project, although construction is pending building permits.
FCDC has also acquired a 10-hectare plot in Lahti, roughly 100 kilometers north of Helsinki. The land was purchased from Spatium – the property management firm of the City of Lahti – for €6 million ($6.77 million), with plans to develop a 100MW data center.
FCDC was established roughly 18 months ago as Fincap DC Corp. Finnish real estate investment firm Fincap retains a minority stake, having divested its majority share in the company.
